St. Bede Music program
Welcome to the St. Bede School music program! Our mission is to develop our students' musical talents, to praise God in song, and to expose them to the world of great music. We start each class with prayer, developing community and spirituality through sharing our prayer intentions. Students learn through multimedia and class discussion in a supportive environment. They often leave class smiling and laughing.
Miss McCormick teaches at St. Bede on Mondays and Fridays.

All students from preschool through 8th grade have 45 minutes of music class per week. Students sing, dance, play instruments, and learn to read and write music. They also learn about great composers and their musical works through multimedia presentations. In the fall of 2016, we learned several beautiful Christmas carols for the December concerts. In the spring of 2017, we are studying Prokofiev's orchestral work Peter and the Wolf and writing musical compositions together as a class.
Most of the learning in music class takes place in group activities such as singing, discussion, or viewing a presentation. These activities make up the greater part of students' music grades. Students are expected to be on task, to put forth their best effort, and to refrain from distracting other students in class. Starting in 2017, a participation grade is assigned for each time music class meets. Midterm grades and final grades are also assigned each trimester.
St. Bede Choir:
The choir meets after school on Fridays, from 2:30-3:15, in the music classroom. The singers learn more advanced songs that include two-part harmony. They sing at all school concerts, and they lead the congregation in singing during school Mass on Friday mornings.
