WANTED: MYSTERY READERS...
On Friday afternoons I invite parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles to come to first grade and share a story with the class.
Simply email me that you are interested. We work out a date, email me 3 clues for the class so they can try to guess who you are on Friday. For example I love dogs, I have nine snowmobiles, and 2 boats. Then the students will guess who our Mystery reader may be.
I sugguest bringing a story you enjoy to read.
I can't wait to hear from you.

First grade is moving right along. We have finished our first Topic in math(addition) and starting our 2nd Topic (substraction) this week.
In Superkids/ELA we are moving through our review lessons. Hopefully you enjoyed hearing your child reading The Flat Cat this week. This coming up week look for our second story,Golly and the Vet.
Science we continue to look at how scientist work.
Social Studies we continue to work on how Rules keep us safe.
Religion We have started chapter 2 and learning about how God sent his own Son, Jesus to us and learning about the Holy Trinity.
UP COMING EVENTS:
Catechetical Sunday Mass. I plan to be at the 11 a.m. St. Bede service.
Field trip September 27th. Money is due Thursday September 19th.
Picture Day September 17th.
Pinwheels for Peace 18th @8:15.

Dear parents,
I just looked at the weather for our field trip tomorrow to Apple Holler and it looks to be a wet one. It looks like it’s going to be in the mid 60’s and rain. I suggest not wearing nice clothes to Apple Holler. I would wear rain boots if you have them, or older gym shoes you don’t mind trashing. If you have a rain jacket I’d send your child with it. We will make the most of our trip. It will be a messy but fun one.
Please remember to bring a sack lunch and disposable drink.

REMINDER
Our Halloween party is at the end of the day on Thursday, October 31st. Students need to bring their costumes to school and will change into them at school. Nothing scary, masks, make-up or gory costumes, weapons or accessories. We will not be participating in the Halloween Parade.
If students need chap stick or hand lotion, they may bring it to class. Please put your name on the supplies and remind students these items can't be shared.

Distribute red ribbons in classrooms (Pre-K-2 only)
Sign pledge sheet in classrooms.
Thursday, October 24th
Classes will create “Say NO to Drugs” poster
Friday, October 25th
Classes will decorate doors or hallways with red ribbon art. Members of Student Council will judge the doors.
Pencils to be distributed K-8.
Monday, October 28th
“Hugs not drugs day”-Students may bring a small stuffed animal to class.
Tuesday, October 29th
Bookmarker will be distributed in classrooms.
Students will wear their regular uniforms. Wear a red shirt.
Computer Safety Talk K-2 8:15-8:45, 3-5 9:00-9:45, 6-8 9:45-10:30
Wednesday, October 30th
Parent Talk about online safety at 7 p.m. in the library.
Distribute stickers to PK-4t
Thursday, October 31st
Create a “Drug Free” bumper sticker for Red Ribbon Week.
Write or draw about what you learned this week and share it with your class.

12/9 Christmas program students are to report to my classroom by 6:15 p.m. Please dress nicely. No jeans or gym shoes. Program starts at 6:30 p.m.

12/20 K of C coloring contest pictures and permission slip is due. (optional)
12/20 Last day of school. Xmas party in the afternoon.
